		<title>&amp;pound;10k Art Prize and Exhibition - deadline 30 June, New Lights</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;Painters, artists and printmakers are invited to apply for a &amp;pound;10,000 Prize and Exhibition. This is open to young, emerging artists who were born, are living, or have trained in the North of England.
&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Work must be wall-hung, in a media that does not require a power source, and excludes photography. &lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Artists must be aged between 23 – 35 years. &lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The five awards for shortlisted work include a &amp;pound;10,000 main prize, &amp;pound;2500 sponsors award, &amp;pound;1000 Norman Ackroyd etching prize. &lt;/p&gt;

		<title>Development Worker (freelance), Northern Regional Brass Band Trust</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;Northern Regional Brass Band Trust (NRBBT) has recently secured Grants for the Arts funding and is working in partnership with Durham County Council&#8217;s Arts Development Team to deliver the &#8216;Break Out Brass&#8217; programme.
&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Break Out Brass is an exciting new development in the Trust&#8217;s work to support brass bands, reflecting the rich traditions of brass playing in County Durham while looking outwards to the various international brass traditions and genres. Inspired by project work developed Brass: Durham International Festival, the programme will encompass year round collaborative projects from workshops and residencies to interdisciplinary projects. &lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;NRBBT wish to recruit a freelance Development Worker to realise the Break Out Brass initiative. It is essential that the Development Worker is able to work from home as the trust has no permanent office base. &lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Person Specification&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;This is an exciting opportunity for a freelance project manager with a strong track record of generating and managing creative programmes, partnership working and fundraising.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The role will involve developing and maintaining creative partnerships, delivering the projects set out in the GftA bid and initiating further artistic projects, applying for funding from a range of sources and identifying opportunities for bands to engage with new and priority audiences including children and young people. As well as developing and overseeing the creative programme, the role will involve undertaking activities designed to build the capacity and resilience of the trust and its membership. These are likely to include training/ mentoring in marketing, fundraising and partnership building and identifying opportunities for professional development of band members both as practising musicians and as sector leaders.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;The Youth Training Academy is an organisation created to locate, educate, develop and showcase the talents of exceptionally gifted and creative young people. This is an opportunity to meet with like-minded people, work within a real production company and write, film, and produce material that meets the needs of the business. Key elements of the apprenticeship include: Film theory and practice training, research for Filmmakers, preparing a film pitch, health and safety, Copyright Law, developing production documents, working with film equipment and producing your own creative ideas. This apprenticeship is suitable for anyone who would like to pursue a career in event management, film production, sound technology, graphic design, web and app development and PR &amp;amp; Marketing.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qualification:&lt;/strong&gt; Advance Level 3 BTEC &amp;amp; NVQ in Creative and Digital Media&lt;/p&gt;

		<title>Performing arts assistant for mth Summer School, Middlesbrough Town Hall</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;Middlesbrough Town Hall is developing a range of participatory workshops and activity for young people within the local area covering the summer period.  The content of the classes will cover aspects of dance, singing, and theatre and performance skills and music making.  The appointed assistant will have the support from a lead drama facilitator and we would like the assistant to be able to work on the dance or music making aspect of the week.
&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The summer school week will consist of 5 sessions running from Monday to Friday 9.30am – 3.30pm&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Assistants will be expected to arrive prior to the start time to set up the space ready for teaching at 9.30am.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Artist brief:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The assistant will be expected to have the flair, vision and experience to assist the performing arts facilitator in the delivery of a high standard of activities for young people within the performing arts remit. We require an assistant to have a varied knowledge of drama, vocal and movement skills, and or music/script writing.&lt;/p&gt;

Assist the delivery of a programme of work based around the chosen theme to young people age 7-16&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Assist in the creation of a small family sharing with the young people on the final day of the summer school lasting no longer than 30mins&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Contribute to monitoring and evaluation and collate participant data&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Adhere to health &amp;amp; safety requirements and procedures&lt;/p&gt;

		<title>The Big Issue in the North launches The Award for New Writing, The Big Issue in the North</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;The Big Issue in the North is proud to announce its New Writing Award, a national award to promote excellence in the art of short story writing. The winning author will receive &amp;pound;1,000 to support them and their career and Valley Press will publish the short list of ten in an anthology that represents the best of contemporary short fiction. The anthology will be available nationally in bookshops and online.  Five runners up will also receive a Kobo Touch.
&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;This Award will raise funds for The Big Issue in the North Trust, our registered charity (no. 1056041) that supports homeless and vulnerably housed people across the North of England.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;It costs &amp;pound;10 to enter one piece of short fiction up to 3,000 words long and &amp;pound;2 for each subsequent entry. All proceeds go to the Trust.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;Kevin Gopal, Editor of The Big Issue in the North, Jamie McGarry, Editor of Valley Press, and short fiction writer David Gaffney will select the winners.&lt;/p&gt;
	&lt;p&gt;The judges are looking for contemporary writing that displays originality, voice and vision. There is no theme and the wining short stories are expected to display outstanding literary quality. The Award will be presented at a special event taking place as part of Manchester Literature Festival.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;p&gt;Our busy gallery and shop currently supports over 50 artists and 12 who have a dedicated space. The cost of the space (approximately 6 x 4ft) is &amp;pound;10 per month and commission free. Alternatively, we also have spaces on 25% commission available.
