A peronal development budget...
July 28, 2010 17:17
The chance to take part in an innovative and exciting approach to capacity building. By offering personal budgets to organisations we are allowing you to completely design a capacity building training package that fully takes into account the individual needs of your organisation and the organisations which you support.
The application is available here or read on for more information.
Overview
Working with Capacitybuilders and the Department of Health, ACEVO is giving CEOs of infrastructure organisations a £2,000+ personal development budget to develop their ability to support third sector organisations working in the fields of health and social care.
What we are trying to do
We are offering personal development budgets to CEOs of third sector infrastructure organisations to enable them to help the third sector organisations they support to win business in the fields of health and social care - either by winning commissioned contracts or through attracting personal health and social care budget holders as part of the personalisation of health and social care
We envisage third sector infrastructure CEOs using their personal development budgets to meet this goal by:
• Developing a clearer understanding and increased knowledge of the health and social care environments and how they are changing (e.g. the personalisation agenda)
• Developing stronger relationships with key players in health and social care (e.g. leaders in the NHS, GP consortia and local government), and changing their behaviours and ways in which they interact with those players
How you can benefit
This year, we will be piloting this approach with 10 infrastructure organisation CEOs. We are inviting applications from infrastructure organisation CEOs, in the form of outline plans for how they would spend their budget (which will consist of at least £2,000). Those who are successful will then spend their budget on the contents of their plan and bill ACEVO as they spend that money. There will be minimal evaluation and bureaucracy: there will be an initial and follow up workshop in which plans can be refined and learning from this process can be shared.
Applying for your personal development budget
Applications will consist of a few details about your organisation, followed by some questions as how you would meet the goals mentioned above and a plan of how you would spend your personal development budget of £2,000 plus a top up from your own organisation.
These applications will be judged by the ACEVO staff responsible for administering ACEVO's Capacitybuilders and Department of Health funding.
We will be looking for plans that demonstrate the following:
1. Clear thought as how the CEO will develop a better understanding of the health and social care environments and stronger relationships with key players in order to support third sector providers win business in the aforementioned fields
2. Real commitment to your development. We will be looking for you to top-up your £2,000 budget. Minimum top-ups (set out in the attached application form) will depend on the size of your organisation, and start at £400. Beyond the set out minimum levels of contribution the more you are prepared to contribute, the more likely we are to make our £2,000 contribution
3. Sustainable impact. We will be looking for plans which aim to develop your understanding or networks in the health and social acre arena in a sustainable way.
Your plan does not need to involve spending right up to your maximum budget, nor does it need to be Costed down to the last penny. What we are looking for is an outline of what you would spend the money on and with whom. If you are successful in being awarded the budget, over the course of the year we will be open to discussing with you changes to what you spend it on or your choice of providers.
The application can be downloaded here and the deadline is the 10th of August.
Completed forms should be emailed to daniel.hooper@Acevo.org.uk
