New Lights is a charity formed in 2010 to promote and support emerging young artists in contemporary art in the North of England.
We offer many exciting opportunities to artists at a critical stage in their development, with our main event being a biennial, high profile exhibition held in one of the region’s stunning spaces. This year we are once again delighted to be working alongside The Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate.
5 fabulous prizes are on offer for young Northern artists, plus exhibitions in The Mercer Gallery in Harrogate and The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle.

Weave Waves brings together sound artist Scanner and textile designer Ismini Samanidou. They are exploring sound, geography and mapping, and how this data relates to textile-weave structures and musical scores.
Scanner and Samanidou have been inspired by the visual and technical similarities between the digital software they both use, the physicality of code and how this in turn relates to mechanisms for mapping and recording the sounds of a city.

The Artists' international development programme is a £750,000 fund, jointly funded by the British Council and Arts Council England.
The programme offers early stage development opportunities for individual freelance and self employed artists based in England to spend time building links with artists, organisations and/or creative producers in another country.

Ideas Fund Innovators is IdeasTaps funding scheme open to all creative disciplines. If you're aged between 16-25 and have a creative project that could do with a cash injection, this is the fund for you. 10 projects will receive £1,000 each to help get them off the ground.
