A charity with 2 full time workers, we have a region wide remit to establish and promote artists from other cultures living and working in the North East of England - AND artists and performers who work Interculturally, i.e. that work with people/groups of other cultures to expose people of the region to cultures they may not be familiar with.

Landscape for Play - Artist commissions

Stockton Borough Council is currently delivering an ongoing programme to review and refurbish play areas within the Borough. The parks service aims to take an innovative approach to how play spaces are developed and has introduced a Landscape for Play ethos.

A key part of this programme is to use different art forms to consult with children and young people in the development and design of local play spaces incorporating traditional play equipment with artist designed play sculptures and using natural landscaping for play.

Save Nothumberland's Theatres

Northumberland County Council has to find millions of pounds worth of savings over the next two years. The four theatres in Northumberland face a 7.5% cut in their already limited funding, as part of sweeping cuts across Council budgets.

This could result in theatres closing or offering a seriously reduced service: closing some days per week; stopping dance or drama classes; reducing the amount of live entertainment; closing for part of the year to save money.

North East Theatre Consortium Script Development programme
New Writing North invites writers from the North East to apply to be part of a script development programme which will take place from January-August 2010. Up to four writers will be mentored and supported by theatre director Deborah Bruce to write a full-length play during this period. At the end of the process, they would anticipate that one of the plays will be selected to be produced and toured by the North East Theatre Consortium, a group of organisations led by New Writing North along with three regional venues: Queen's Hall in Hexham, The Customs House in South Shields, and Darlington Arts Centre.

Using the Arts with Juvenile and Young Offenders
