Bulletin No. 1 - January 2010
 
This year North Tyneside Council will be celebrating Year of the Arts 2010-11 as part of its Widening Horizons 4 All initiative.  The themes of the year are to:-
 
The year will provide the opportunity for a wide range of engagement in both arts production and audience participation.  Each month we will circulate a bulletin indicating up and coming highlights and, as the year progresses, reviews and feedback.
 
So, the first dates to get in your diary, all scheduled for the Playhouse, Whitley Bay are as follows:-
 
22nd March - 8pm - Sierra Maestra - launch event to begin the Year of the Arts will feature the legendary Cuban band who will deliver a set guaranteed to get you on your feet, reflecting the classic sounds of Havana;
 
12th April - 8pm - Rainbow Nation - South African performers on a two month residency in the North East perform an extravaganza of music, dance and storytelling which will enthral the entire family;
 
15th April - 7.15pm - North Tyneside Steelband - 20th anniversary celebration-  after going down a storm to a packed Royal Albert Hall, NTSB will be at the new Playhouse to show all their friends and supporters how far they have come over their 20 years.
