Someone told me that more people vote in The X Factor than in the general election.  I don’t know if that’s true or not – but the sad thing is I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it is.  And when you ask people why they don’t vote they say they don’t think it will make any difference.  But given that most people don’t vote, at least what they do do is volunteer.  

Charitable endeavour is so much more than the work that you do.  Your work is much, much more than the hospice, the homeless shelter, the bowl of soup.

PNE Development - Part Time Management Trainer / Assessors
Newcastle upon Tyne

The PNE Development Team is currently seeking to appoint two part time, Management Trainer/Assessors to assist in the delivery and assessment of a broad range of management development qualifications.

Applicants must have:

  • At least five years’ management experience
  • Experience of designing and developing management training materials
  • Experience of working with Third Sector organisations
  • NVQ Assessor qualifications D32/33 or A1
  • Experience of delivering participative and interactive management development training
  • Experience of assessment using a variety of methods

Experience of managing volunteers, assessing against management standards, an Internal Verification qualification and experience in guiding candidates through a paperless/online assessment process will also be advantageous.

CRISIS Christmas volunteers

A charity which runs support services to homeless people in Newcastle and Gateshead says it desperately needs volunteers to help out this Christmas. CRISIS - which offers shelter, counselling and entertainment to single homeless people - is expecting 150 people with nowhere to stay to seek their help over the festive period.
